What is a hard chrome plated rod and where is it used?
A hard chrome plated rod is a precision steel rod (CK45 or EN8 grade) electroplated with a dense chromium layer of 10–25 µm, achieving surface hardness of HRC 68–72. This gives it exceptional wear resistance, low friction, and corrosion protection. It is widely used as a hydraulic piston rod, linear motion shaft, and cylinder rod in hydraulic cylinders, pneumatic systems, injection moulding machines, agricultural equipment, and industrial automation.

What sizes and materials are available for hard chrome plated rods?
Kamal Shaft manufactures hard chrome plated rods from 6mm to 500mm in diameter and custom lengths up to 8 metres. Available material grades include CK45, C40, EN8, EN19, mild steel, stainless steel 304 and 316. We accept OEM custom specifications and bulk supply orders. Surface finish: Ra 0.2–0.4 µm; chrome hardness: HRC 68–72.

What is the difference between a honed tube and a seamless honed tube?
A honed tube is produced from an ERW (welded) or seamless mother tube and honed on the inner diameter to achieve a precise bore finish (Ra 0.2–0.4 µm). A seamless honed tube is made exclusively from seamless mother tube (E355 / St52 grade), giving it higher pressure resistance with no weld seam — preferred for hydraulic cylinders operating at pressures above 300 bar. Both are available in inner diameters from 20mm to 500mm.

What is an LM Shaft (Linear Motion Shaft) and what tolerances do you offer?
An LM Shaft (Linear Motion Shaft) is a precision-ground, induction-hardened steel shaft used with linear motion bearings (LM bushings) in CNC machines, robotics, pick-and-place systems, and industrial automation. Kamal Shaft supplies LM shafts in h6 and f7 tolerance grades, surface hardness HRC 58–62, surface roughness Ra 0.4–0.8 µm, in diameters from 6mm to 120mm and standard lengths up to 6 metres.
